Child mortality rate has decreased from 167 to 137 deaths per 1,000 live births and the infant mortality rate from 122 to 76 deaths per 1,000 live births since 1991. However, this still falls short of the MDG target of 31 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2015.
 
Water service coverage has increased nationwide from a little over 20% in 1991 to almost 68% in 2006 but falls short of meeting the MDG target of 100% coverage rate by 2015
 
With insufficient funding for the overall health system, resources
for disease control and prevention remain inadequate, and yet communicable diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB account for 54% of the total burden of disease in Uganda.
 
The ratio of health workers to patients stands at 1health worker
to 1500 Ugandans.
